Venis Cruise is the name of the project chosen by the promoters Duferco and DP Consulting for the construction of the new Cruise Terminal at Bocca di Lido, in Venice, while Duferco Engineering developed the whole project completely.
Project objectives: ensure a secure future to the cruise business respecting the uniqueness of Venice and its Lagoon and minimising the environmental impact.
The project represents a solution capable of combine safety and environmental maintaining cruises in Venice as homeport (terminal). Venis Cruise project relocates the passenger terminal outside the Lagoon and outside the Mo.S.E. gates, providing mooring for 4 homeport cruise ships.
Six innovative eco-friendly motor vessels will transfer passengers from the New Terminal to the Venice Maritime Station, which will remain fully in service. The motor vessels are designed with a catamaran hull to minimise wave creation and with cycloidal propellers to eliminate turbulence on sea bed. Electric propulsion on batteries ensures silent navigation with zero emissions in the most sensitive areas: St. Marco and Giudecca channels.
Compatible with the historic uniqueness of Venice and the world of cruise ship excursions.
